Hi Lignan Flax Seed Oil – Virgin Organic is comprised of cold-pressed flax seed oil and partially defatted flax seed powder, carrying a yellow hue with a mild characteristic nutty aroma and flavor profile. This unique variety of organic certified flax seed oil is especially high in lignan content, a plant-based polyphenol sought after for specific diets, nutritional supplements, and perceived health benefits. Flax seed oil contains a naturally high level of omega-3 Linolenic fatty acids, a desired essential fatty acid in which the body cannot naturally produce. Virgin is considered the natural/raw material with the characteristic color, flavor, and aroma. Refining removes these properties so the material is a lighter shade than the virgin material and often times clear, off-white, or white with little-to-no scent or flavor.
Refined, bleached (non-chemical process), deodorized. An "RBDW" product goes through a winterization ("W") process in addition to the RBD process.
Deodorized materials go through a non-chemical, high-vacuum process to reduce their natural aroma. While the aroma is not removed fully, a deodorized product’s aroma is less potent than the natural or unrefined variety.
