Wintergreen Oil - Organic
Organic Wintergreen Oil, a pure essential oil steam distilled from the leaves of the wintergreen shrub, carries a powerful, characteristic minty aroma and fresh flavor, similar to peppermint oil. Manufacturers of personal care products often use wintergreen oil in their formulations for its appealing cleansing properties and particularly high content of methyl salicylate. This ester is a desired ingredient used in a number of muscle and joint ointments, sports rubs, gels, topical balms and numbing creams. To many consumer’s surprise, wintergreen oil is found in the traditional American-made beverage, root beer. In addition to root beer, wintergreen oil is a common flavoring agent in products ranging from mints, hard candies, chewing gum, mouthwash and toothpaste.
