Coconut Oil
Coconut oil is known for its many uses in the food and cosmetic industries. Due to its high content of saturated fatty acids, primarily Lauric Acid (C12:0), coconut oil is solid at room temperature and highly resistant to rancidity. Noted as one of the most popular carrier oils for soap and personal-care product development, coconut oil can be found on ingredient labels of an endless array of beauty products including shampoo, conditioner, hair masks, makeup remover, lip balms, deodorants, tanning oil, moisturizers, and lotions. Its effective emollient, moisturizing, and hydrating properties are advantageous when creating topical products to treat dry or damaged skin and hair and is often used to treat after-sun exposure.
