Organic Kalahari melon oil, also referred to as wild watermelon seed oil, is cold-pressed extracted from the African Citrullus lanatus species. The Kalahari melon is an ancestor of the commercially distributed watermelon, as evidenced with its nearly identical appearance of the fruit. Virgin organic Kalahari oil carries a golden yellow appearance with a mild aroma, and an omega-6 fatty acid profile comparable to that of evening primrose oil. Its rich omega-6 content, specifically linoleic acid, provides hydrating and nourishing benefits when applied to topically the skin, making this a sought-after ingredient in the personal-care and cosmetic realm. Virgin organic Kalahari oil promotes moisturization and hydration and is most often utilized in a range of topical skincare creams, natural cleansers, lotions, face masks, and astringents.

Virgin is considered the natural/raw material with the characteristic color, flavor, and aroma. Refining removes these properties so the material is a lighter shade than the virgin material and often times clear, off-white, or white with little-to-no scent or flavor.
Refined, bleached (non-chemical process), deodorized. An "RBDW" product goes through a winterization ("W") process in addition to the RBD process.
Deodorized materials go through a non-chemical, high-vacuum process to reduce their natural aroma. While the aroma is not removed fully, a deodorized product’s aroma is less potent than the natural or unrefined variety.
