Extra Virgin Avocado Oil is an unrefined oil, cold pressed extracted from the fruit flesh of the Avocado, botanically referred to as Persea gratissima. This virgin carrier oil yields a characteristic green appearance with an aroma and flavor profile reminiscent of the fresh fruit. Extra virgin avocado oil is known to be naturally rich in Vitamin E and Oleic Acid content, highly desired attributes sought-after throughout the nutraceutical and cosmetic industries. Personal-care applications for extra virgin avocado oil include skin and hair product formulations in addition to the manufacturing of soaps, shampoos, conditioners, serums, lotions, and pomades. Virgin is considered the natural/raw material with the characteristic color, flavor, and aroma. Refining removes these properties so the material is a lighter shade than the virgin material and often times clear, off-white, or white with little-to-no scent or flavor.
Refined, bleached (non-chemical process), deodorized. An "RBDW" product goes through a winterization ("W") process in addition to the RBD process.
Deodorized materials go through a non-chemical, high-vacuum process to reduce their natural aroma. While the aroma is not removed fully, a deodorized product’s aroma is less potent than the natural or unrefined variety.
