Amla oil is expeller-pressed from the seeds of 100% Emblica Officinalis Fruit Extract, yielding a yellow to brown appearance with a characteristic mild nutty aroma. As a virgin, otherwise known as unrefined, material, this ingredient may vary from batch to batch due to natural variation in the raw material. Virgin amla oil is a coveted raw material for cosmetic and personal-health care product formulations due to it high level of linoleic and oleic fatty acid content. Commonly referred to as Indian Gooseberry oil, this natural oil is often utilized in haircare products to nourish and rehydrate the scalp and hair cuticles. Amla Oil may be found in lotions and moisturizers for its antioxidant content and effective hydrating properties as well.

Virgin is considered the natural/raw material with the characteristic color, flavor, and aroma. Refining removes these properties so the material is a lighter shade than the virgin material and often times clear, off-white, or white with little-to-no scent or flavor.
Refined, bleached (non-chemical process), deodorized. An "RBDW" product goes through a winterization ("W") process in addition to the RBD process.
Deodorized materials go through a non-chemical, high-vacuum process to reduce their natural aroma. While the aroma is not removed fully, a deodorized product’s aroma is less potent than the natural or unrefined variety.
