Sacha Inchi Seeds, known for their high level of plant-based omega-3s, are commonly referred to as a superfood, due to them being a complete protein, containing every amino acid your body requires. Also known by the botanical name Plukenetia volubilis, this diminutive, tanned seed stems from a perennial plant that has small trichomes on its leaves and is recognized as part of the Euphorbiaceae family. The organic seeds are roasted at 150-155°C for 1.8-2.0 hours, transforming the seed to have a more nut-like appearance. There are no additives or processing aids used in the process. The seed is recognized for all its nutritional benefits as a complete source of protein blends with an estimated 8-9 grams of protein per ounce, a higher content than almonds. Roasted sacha inchi seeds are a rich source of alpha-linolenic acid and a valuable source of Vitamin E, Vitamin A and fiber.
Sacha inchi seeds are used throughout the food and beverage industry in various recipes and formulations such as protein powders, cereals, various trail mix brands and as a salad topper. Popular health food stores and grocery markets are often carrying this product in either their own grab-and-go nut section or sold in retail packaging under a variety of brand names.

Virgin is considered the natural/raw material with the characteristic color, flavor, and aroma. Refining removes these properties so the material is a lighter shade than the virgin material and often times clear, off-white, or white with little-to-no scent or flavor.
Refined, bleached (non-chemical process), deodorized. An "RBDW" product goes through a winterization ("W") process in addition to the RBD process.
Deodorized materials go through a non-chemical, high-vacuum process to reduce their natural aroma. While the aroma is not removed fully, a deodorized product’s aroma is less potent than the natural or unrefined variety.
