Rosemary oil is steam-distilled from the flowering tops, stem, and leaves of the rosemary plant, Rosmarinus officinalis. This popular essential oil ranges from clear to yellow in appearance. Verbenone rosemary oil yields a warm, arboraceous aroma and is notably less intense than the eucalyptol/cineole variety of rosemary oil. Depending on the timing of extraction and origin, rosemary oil may exhibit natural variation from lot to lot. Rosemary oil is widely used throughout the personal-care and cosmetic industry, commonly procured for haircare, skin, and topical beauty products including moisturizing creams, lotions, balms, shampoos, conditioners, and hair serums.
