Palm wax flakes, derived from palm oil as its name suggests, are a solid waxy substance with a melting point around 52-62°C (125-143°F). With an off-white appearance and neutral odor, palm wax flakes are a popular product used in small- and large-scale candle manufacturing. As a harder product than others, it is a preferred ingredient specifically for pillar candles, votive candles, and meltable tarts, while often combined with paraffin or soy wax for container blends. Palm wax is highly desired for its fragrance retention, long burn time, and its visually appealing crystalline pattern once the wax cools after heating. Palm wax flakes can enhance stability and structure of a formulation, increases the melting point, and act as an emulsifier in cosmetics products such as lipsticks, lip balms, hair pomades, and body lotion. In food packaging and industrial applications, palm wax provides a protective, water-resistant glossy coating to various finished products.
