Macadamia nut oil is expeller pressed from the kernels of the macadamia tree’s fruit, yielding a versatile lightweight oil naturally high in palmitoleic and oleic fatty acid content. This variety of Macadamia nut oil is thoroughly refined, yielding a bland, neutral liquid that will not impact the flavor or aroma of an end-product. Macadamia nut oil is relatively stable and resistant to oxidation due to its fatty acid composition with a higher smoke point than a large portion of other vegetable oils.
Refined macadamia nut oil exhibits natural emollient properties, making this an excellent ingredient in cosmetic and personal-care formulations. Virgin is considered the natural/raw material with the characteristic color, flavor, and aroma. Refining removes these properties so the material is a lighter shade than the virgin material and often times clear, off-white, or white with little-to-no scent or flavor.
Refined, bleached (non-chemical process), deodorized. An "RBDW" product goes through a winterization ("W") process in addition to the RBD process.
Deodorized materials go through a non-chemical, high-vacuum process to reduce their natural aroma. While the aroma is not removed fully, a deodorized product’s aroma is less potent than the natural or unrefined variety.
