Cypress Oil is obtained via steam distillation from the evergreen tree Cupressus sempervirens L, commonly known as Mediterranean Cypress. This pure essential oil yields a characteristic light refreshing, earthy aroma similar to pine with sweeter notes. Bulk cypress oil is produced largely for personal care and cosmetic applications as well as industrial manufacturing. In personal care formulations, cypress oil is a favored ingredient incorporated in a number of topical products such as soaps, colognes, and aftershaves for its potential astringent properties. Cypress oil is widely used within aromatherapy applications to promote a relaxing natural environment and is a preferred ingredient in natural cleaning products for its it’s pine-like fragrance.
