Organic Perilla Seed Oil is cold pressed from the seeds of the Perilla frutescens plant and then fully refined to produce a clear yellow oil with a mild, characteristic nutty aroma. This specialty carrier oil is highly valued for its naturally rich concentration of alpha-linoleic acid, or ALA, an omega-3 essential fatty acid. With ALA levels typically ranging from 50–66%, perilla seed oil offers one of the highest omega-3 profiles among vegetable oils.
Organic perilla seed oil is commonly used in personal-care and cosmetic formulations, including facial creams, serums, moisturizers, and other skincare products. Virgin is considered the natural/raw material with the characteristic color, flavor, and aroma. Refining removes these properties so the material is a lighter shade than the virgin material and often times clear, off-white, or white with little-to-no scent or flavor.
Refined, bleached (non-chemical process), deodorized. An "RBDW" product goes through a winterization ("W") process in addition to the RBD process.
Deodorized materials go through a non-chemical, high-vacuum process to reduce their natural aroma. While the aroma is not removed fully, a deodorized product’s aroma is less potent than the natural or unrefined variety.
