Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Olive Oil has been collected by humans for culinary, medical, and cosmetic use for millennia, largely in hotterclimates such as the Mediterranean, the olive’s nativehome. Today, Olive Oil has become one of the most popular oils for cooking and commonly found in personal health care products. The term ‘extra virgin’ specifies that this is obtained from the first pressing of the olive, yielding a high content of the highly desired oleic fatty acid. The color naturally varies from green to yellow and carries a characteristic aroma and flavor profile. Extra Virgin RBD, on the contrary, has gone through additional refining, bleaching, and deodorization to result in a bland olive oil variety.
Due to a lower smoke point compared to other cookingoils, extra virgin olive oil is best when used in cold or no heat food applications, such as an ingredient in salad dressings. In cosmetic and personal health care products, it acts as a natural moisturizer, conditioning the skin and boosting hair shine. It’s often used in the formulation of soaps, lotions, hair treatments, and facial masks.
